"good stuff" from my psych class

To be a human being means to have inferiority feelings. One recognizes one's own powerlessness in the face of nature. One sees death as the irrefutable consequence of existence. But in the mentally healthy person this inferiority feeling acts as a motive for productivity, as a motive for attempting to overcome obstacles, to maintain oneself in life.
- Alfred Adler

The great question that has never been answered, and which i have not yet been able to answer, despite my thirty years of research into the feminine soul, is "What do women want?"
- Sigmund Freud

my end of the deal

gela: drive here, study for my classes for me, cure me of my sickness, find me some non-AHS friends, and a good boyfriend
gela: and we'll call it even =P

the best kind of friend is the one you can sit on a porch, swing with, never saying a word, and then walk away feeling like that was the best conversation you've had.

Pride and Prejudice (the best book ever!)

Bingley: Darcy, I shall never understand why you go through the world determined to be displeased with everything and everyone in it.
Mr. Darcy: And I will never understand why you are always in a rage to approve of everything and everyone that you meet.

Mr. Darcy: I shall conquer this, I shall!

Mr. Darcy: In vain have I struggeled, it will not do. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.

Caroline Bingley: I believe I can guess your thoughts at this moment.
Mr. Darcy: I should imagine not.
Caroline Bingley: You are thinking how insupportable it would be to spend many evenings in such tedious company!
Mr. Darcy: No, indeed, my mind was more agreeably engaged. I've been meditating on the very great pleasure which a pair of fine eyes and the face of a pretty woman can bestow.
Caroline Bingley: And may one dare ask whose are the eyes that inspire these reflections?
Mr. Darcy: Miss Elizabeth Bennet's.
Caroline Bingley: Miss Elizabeth Bennet! I am all astonishment!

Mr. Darcy: If you will thank me, let it be for yourself alone. Your family owes me nothing. Much as I respect them I believe I thought only of you. You are too generous to trifle with me, if your feelings are what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes are unchanged, but one word from you will silence me on this subject forever.
Elizabeth: Oh, my feelings, my feelings are - I am ashamed to remember what I said then - my feelings are so different. In fact, they are quite the opposite.

Meet Joe Black (great movie!)

Love is passion, obsession, someone you can't live without. If you don't start with that, what are you going to end up with? Fall head over heels. I say find someone you can love like crazy and who'll love you the same way back. And how do you find him? Forget your head and listen to your heart. I'm not hearing any heart. Run the risk, if you get hurt, you'll come back. Because, the truth is there is no sense living your life without this. To make the journey and not fall deeply in love - well, you haven't lived a life at all. You have to try. Because if you haven't tried, you haven't lived.
- William Parrish

I love you now. I love you always Thank you for loving me.
- Joe Black

Joe Black: I don't care Bill. I love her.
William Parrish: How perfect for you -- to take whatever you want because it pleases you. That's not love.
Joe Black: Then what is it?
William Parrish: Some aimless infatuation which, for the moment, you feel like indulging -- it's missing everything that matters.
Joe Black: Which is what?
William Parrish: Trust, responsibility, taking the weight for your choices and feelings, and spending the rest of your life living up to them. And above all, not hurting the object of your love.
Joe Black: So that's what love is according to William Parrish?
William Parrish: Multiply it by infinity, and take it to the depth of forever, and you will still have barely a glimpse of what I'm talking about.

Moulin Rouge

The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.

Ever After

Prince Henry: You told me it was a matter of life or death.
Leonardo DaVinci: A woman always is.

Danielle: A bird may love a fish, signore, but where will they live?
Leonardo DaVinci: Then I shall have to make you wings.

Danielle: It is not fair, sire. You have found my weakness, but I have yet to learn yours.
Prince Henry: But I should think it was quit obvious.

Danielle: If you suffer your people to be ill-educated, and their manners corrupted from infancy, and then punish them for those crimes to which their first education disposed them, what else is to be concluded, sire, but that you first make thieves and then punish them?

Prince Henry: How do you do it?
Danielle: What?
Prince Henry: Live each day with this kind of passion. Don't you find it exhausting?
Danielle: Only when I am around you. Why do you like to irritate me so?
Prince Henry: Why do you rise to the occasion?

Prince Henry: I kneel before you not as a prince, but as a man in love... I would feel like a king if you, Danielle De Barberac, would be my wife.

Casablanca

Louis: What in heaven's name brought you to Casablanca?
Rick: My health. I came to Casablanca for the waters. Captain.
Louis: The waters? What waters? We're in the desert.
Rick: I was misinformed.

Ilsa: Play it once, Sam. For old times' sake.
Sam: I don't know what you mean, Miss Ilsa.
Ilsa: Play it, Sam. Play "As Time Goes By."

Rick: Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine.

Ilsa: You're saying this only to make me go.
Rick: I'm saying it because it's true. Inside of us, we both know you belong with Victor. You're part of his work, the thing that keeps him going. If that plane leaves the ground and you're not with him, you'll regret it. Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life.
Ilsa: But what about us?
Rick: We'll always have Paris. We didn't have, we, we lost it until you came to Casablanca. We got it back last night.
Ilsa: When I said I would never leave you.
Rick: And you never will. But I've got a job to do, too. Where I'm going, you can't follow. What I've got to do, you can't be any part of. Ilsa, I'm no good at being noble, but it doesn't take much to see that the problems of three little people don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world. Someday you'll understand that. Now, now... Here's looking at you kid.

Rick: Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Its a Wonderful Life

George: What do you want, Mary? Do you want the moon? If you want it, I'll throw a lasso around it and pull it down for you. Hey! That's a pretty good idea! I'll give you the moon, Mary.
Mary: I'll take it! Then what?
George: Well, then you can swallow it, and it'll all dissolve see, and the moonbeams would shoot out of your fingers and your toes and the ends of your hair... am I talking too much?

Man on Porch: Why don't you liss her instead of talking her to death?
George: You want me to kiss her, huh?
Man on Porch: Ah, youth is wasted on the wrong people!

As Good As It Gets

Melvin: I've got a really great compliment for you, and its true.
Carol: I'm so afraid you're about to say something awful.
Melvin: Don't be pessimistic, it's not your style. Anyway, here goes: I've got this, what, ailment. Now, my doctor, this shrink I used to go to all the time, says that in fifty to sixty percent of cases, a pill really helps. I HATE pills, hate them. I'm using the word "hate" about pills. Anyway, my compliment to you is the night after you came over and said that you would never . . . well, you were there, you know what you said. Anyway, the very next morning, I started taking the pills.
Carol: I don't quite get how that's a compliment for me.
Melvin: You make me want to be a better man.
Carol: That's maybe the best compliment of my life.
Melvin: Well maybe I overshot a little, because I was aiming at just enough to keep you from walking out.

Meteor Garden

Hua Ze Lei: From now on, when you don't want to cry, just do a handstand.

In this world, there are two types of people who are mentally suffering from regrets. One is those who are not able to get the person that they love. The other is those who see their loved ones not able to get any happiness.

San Chai: When you love somebody, no matter what happens, you'll always think of him, and when you think of him your heart beats faster. When you lose him, your heart feels like there's a hole in it. Doesn't matter where you are, or what you're doing. There will always be a wound that you can't see or touch, that would silently hurt.

Dao Ming Si:When a shooting star has thousands of stars surrounding it, they are protected by love angels. Before the star hits the ground, if it is seen by a couple, they'll have a mark of love and stay together.

I won't put you down. I finally caught you. Why would I let you go?
